Maid Cafes

I recently made the journey to Akihabara. We call it Aki. The land of cheap computer hardware, manga and maid cafes. The competition was stiff. These three almost managed to wrangle me into their establishment, but I ultimated went with another place.

Called "With Cat," the maid cafe was without fault, but ultimately left something to be desired. This was on Halloween. And though the girls were dressed in costume and cute, I couldn't help but feel like I wasn't getting my money's worth. The best communication I could do was point at the picture menu to order. So it wasn't really their fault. The food at with cat is simple, and relatively cheap. Pretty much just rice and curry.

Still they managed to surprise me when, on our way out, we were presented with a small envelope. I didn't open it until we got home, at which point I found this:

A professional photograph of the actual girls who served me. Nice. An interesting side note is that Japan goes straight from Halloween to Christmas. On my way home, I saw that decorations were already being taken down, wreaths and the like replacing them. I managed to snap this transitional photo.

It's so weird that they skip straight from Halloween to Christmas, whenever I'd see commercials on TV a few weeks back, they'd always be Christmas commercials, and I'd think "what is it December already??". It's quite a strange feeling seeing xmas commercials in November.
